How do I install Bear Creek Bronze tile?

When setting, treat Bear Creek Bronze Tile as you would any other tile. Standard mastics and mortars are perfectly acceptable.

What care should be used when grouting?

A professional tile setter will know that as with many other types of tile, Bear Creek Bronze Tile can scratch so using a grout bag, masking the tile and not scrubbing the grout over the surface will help.

Will Bear Creek Bronze tiles darken?

Yes, we produce our tiles without clear coat or lacquer to allow the natural aging process to occur. This process is known as patina, or the oxidation of copper based alloys.

How do I cut Bear Creek Bronze Tile?

Bear Creek Bronze Tile can be cut using a tile saw with a diamond blade or even a hacksaw.

Why are Bear Creek Bronze tiles so heavy?

Copper based alloys are approximately .3 lbs per cubic inch.

How do I clean Bear Creek Bronze Tiles?

A mild detergent diluted in water is recommended.

Why doesn’t Bear Creek Bronze clear coat or wax our tile?

Clear coat retards the natural aging process or patina to occur best. Avoid cleaners with harsh chemicals such as bleach, ammonia, and vinegar.

What sort of care should be used when using Bear Creek Bronze tiles outdoors?

If the desired effect is to allow the effects of nature to change the look, the tiles will darken for a period of time and develop a green (verdigris) finish. If the desired look is to remain as they were when installed, a clear coat/ lacquer or paste wax is recommended.

Does Bear Creek Bronze cabinet hardware come with mounting screws?

Yes, but due to so many varying thicknesses of custom cabinetry we ask that you discuss this matter with us prior to ordering so that we insure you receive the correct length for the installation. Otherwise, we will ship with standard 1” screws provided.

Are there any special instructions concerning Bear Creek Bronze cabinet hardware for cabinet makers?

Yes, since our cabinet hardware is very substantial, we use 10-32 screws for our knobs and pulls. Most hardware manufactures use 8-32 screws. Cabinets will sometimes have to be drilled to slightly larger diameter to accommodate this.

Does Bear Creek Bronze charge for samples?

Yes, we do charge for samples and will gladly offer a full refund (less shipping and handling charges) if returned within 30 days in the same condition as when originally shipped.

What is the largest tile Bear Creek Bronze can make?

We can produce up to 12” tiles and have the capability of producing plaques up to 23”x23”.
